Temple University Student Attacked in Classroom Building

Police say a female Temple University student was physically and sexually assaulted in classroom building as classes were in session.Investigators say the 22-year-old woman had been attending a class at Temple's 12-story Anderson Hall when her assailant attacked her in a hallway and pulled her into a bathroom on Thursday night.

Police say the man choked, sexually assaulted and beat the woman before taking off with her school bag and cell phone. She remains hospitalized in stable condition with a concussion and other injuries.Temple police are working with Philadelphia authorities and reviewing security tapes to try to identify the assailant. Temple spokesman Ray Betzner says security guards are being reminded to continue checking student and faculty identification cards at all campus buildings.
