An autopsy has confirmed that a New York City college student who was backpacking in Belize was strangled to death. Julia Minard, 20, had taken a semester off from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., to travel through Guatemala and Belize with a group of backpackers, and was found last week outside a village near the Guatemalan border, in her underwear, with her neck and arms bruised.
Her attacker, Agripo Ical, followed Julia out of a bar in a small village, tried to rape her, and when he wasn't successful with that, killed her when she struggled. The killer has given a full written statement, which has been witnessed by a justice of the peace.
